Adapting to Change: Hansa Andersson’s Vision for the Future of IT Consulting
Hans “Hansa” Andersson is heading up the Healthcare and Life Sciences (HLS) commercial function, as well as being newly appointed regional manager of Sweden. Well known for his positive mindset and forward leaning attitude, we caught up with him to talk to him about the change that comes with a merger.
So, what does this fusion of Avenga and Qinshift mean to you?
It is probably a cliché to state the usual, that we’re in a rapidly evolving technological landscape, and that the only constant is change - but as a matter of fact, our two equals in size and experience, Qinshift and Avenga, are coming together not just to “change” or “keep up the pace”. We are coming together to take necessary steps towards tomorrow, shaping the future of our industry.
This merger is about the messy but rewarding integration of cultures, expertise, and visions, and it’s about giving us the opportunity to blend the best of two worlds - each company's strengths and deep industry knowledge. The result will be what we refer to as a powerhouse of IT consulting where we can offer massive value to our clients.
Talking about what is to come, how do you see us in a couple of years?
I’d like to picture what it will be like when we’ve progressed a little bit further. I imagine arriving at work, whether physical or virtual, on a typical day. The atmosphere is filled with energy as my colleagues discuss the day’s tasks and challenges with a smile.
I sit at my workstation, surrounded by people with a variety of perspectives—some from my legacy company, others from the one we’ve just joined forces with. Some are in the office with me, while others collaborate remotely. There’s a shared excitement about our projects, knowing that together, we are achieving something greater than before.
Soon, traditional roles will blur as our cross-functional teams tackle more complex problems, blending expertise in unexpected ways. I envision a workplace where each day offers me a fresh approach. And I hope this becomes our reality sooner than we think!
Naturally, the journey ahead will also bring its share of bad days and challenges, but with them comes incredible opportunities. My experience is that by actively imagining tomorrow, it gets much easier to embrace change and to lead with a mindset that is always forward-looking. Together, we are not just adapting to the future - we are creating it.
So, what are your best personal tips to consultants on how to thrive in this merger?
My strongest advice, and my hope for the future, is that we all view the future as an opportunity to expand skills and knowledge. The integration of our two organizations brings new tools, methodologies, and perspectives. I would approach each challenge as a learning opportunity and be open to experimenting with new thoughts and methods!
I’d make sure to become connected - use the expertise available within the merged company. Build strong, cross-functional relationships and be proactive in seeking out collaboration. The most successful consultants will be those who can tap into the collective intelligence of our now larger and more diverse teams.
While our internal changes are significant, our clients’ needs will stay at the forefront. Use the merger as an opportunity to deliver even greater value to clients by offering more comprehensive and innovative solutions, so make sure to keep yourself updated on the experience and capabilities available in our new constellation - never forget that our customers success is our guiding star towards the future.
